Most people don’t need a lot of convincing to buy a doughnut. You either want a hot delicious flaky treat, or you don’t. But Dobla doesn’t make doughnuts. They make the delicious decorative chocolate that goes on top. One of the largest manufacturers of Chocolate products in the world Dobla sells its products to customers like Publix and Dunkin Doughnuts, to name a few. Since they’re working in volume, as well as quality, it can be a little more difficult to get new customers on board.
TOPPERS: Customizable, small-batch, hockey puck like pieces of chocolate that melt perfectly on top of a warm doughnut. YUM!
Their newest product, the Dobla Topper, was designed to reach a wider audience. Yes, the standard batch print edible chocolates would still be appealing to Dobla’s bigger clients, but the focus here is on smaller batch custom toppers that bring a seasonal appeal to a conventional product. Birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays, there is a topper for every occasion.
To launch their new product, Dobla needed a video, not only to introduce the toppers but to show how easy they are to use. Pretty straightforward right? They did have one little “problem.” The video’s primary audience was going to be tradeshow attendees.
I can assume that most people have attended a trade show at some point in their life, but for those of you who have been spared, let me illustrate it for you. Walking into a tradeshow, the noise floor raises about + 20 dB, and your senses are bombarded with enough stimulation to make an introvert out of a social butterfly. We knew this would be the environment in which many potential clients would view the video, so we kept it simple.
The video was to have sound, but only for a light social release. Instead, we relied on a knolling style of video that kept focus on the toppers themselves. Illustrating 6+ scenarios in which one could use the toppers including the use of “cookie” and “long john” toppers. Potential customers watch as the melt in your mouth chocolate oozes over baked goods on screen. Even from a distance, what more do you need to see? Pleasing colors and fun decorations fill the screen in hopes that you’ll stick around before heading back to the crowded showroom floors.
